Third person charged over armed robberies across Sydney's west

A man will face court today charged by detectives investigating a series of armed robberies in Sydney's west in recent months.

Detectives from the State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad established Strike Force Browallia to investigate four alleged armed robberies Sydney's west during August and September.

A 14-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man have previously been charged over their alleged roles in the robberies. They both remain before the courts.

Following further inquiries, an 18-year-old man was arrested at Auburn Police Station yesterday (Sunday 20 October 2019).

He was later charged by Strike Force Browallia detectives at Burwood Police Station with robbery armed with an offensive weapon.

Police will allege in court that the man was involved in the armed robbery of a 73-year-old man and a nine-year-old girl at a mixed business on the corner of Water Street and Woodburn Road, Auburn, about 8.20pm on Friday 13 September 2019.

He was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Monday 21 October 2019).

Investigations under Strike Force Browallia are continuing, and further arrests are expected.
