Third person charged over Wentworth Point shooting, NSW

A further person has been charged after the shooting of a man at Wentworth Point in April, NSW Police say.

About 4.30am on Wednesday 26 April 2017, a 30-year-old man answered a knock on the door of his unit in Corniche Drive.

When he opened the door two men and a female entered the home, one male armed with a pistol and the second male armed with a knife.


A number of shots were fired and the 30-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his left leg.

The three offenders fled from the location and emergency services were contacted.

The injured man was treated at the scene by Ambulance paramedics and conveyed to hospital where he was treated and subsequently released.

Police from Flemington Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

Following inquiries, about 4pm today, police attached to Police Transport Command Target Action Group arrested a 33-year-old man at Sydenham Railway Station.

He was taken to Newtown Police Station where he was charged with discharge firearm, and special aggravated break and enter.

The man was refused bail to appear Newtown Local Court tomorrow.

He is the third person charged over the shooting, after investigators charged a 32-year-old man earlier this month and a 22-year-old female in April.

They were both charged with discharge firearm, and special aggravated break and enter.

The 22-year-old woman is next due to appear at Burwood Local Court on Wednesday 21 June 2017.

The 32-year-old man is next due to appear at Burwood Local Court on Wednesday 12 July 2017.
