Today we sadly confirm a thirteenth life lost to coronavirus.
An 86 year old woman has passed away at the Mersey Community Hospital this morning, where she was being cared for.
On behalf of the Tasmanian Government, I extend my heartfelt sympathies to the woman's family, friends and loved ones.
This is the 13th life tragically lost to coronavirus in Tasmania, and the 12th life lost in the North West of the State.
It follows the announcement earlier today of a 12th death, also an 86 year old woman from the North West, who died yesterday.
It is a stark reminder of the serious nature of this virus and our need to maintain strong measures to mitigate its spread.
