This Easter stay home and save lives

Yesterday the Victorian Chief Health Officer Professor Brett Sutton and Deputy Police Commissioner Shane Patton advised Victorians to stay at their main places of residence this Easter.

Under Victorian Government stage three restrictions there are only four reasons for Victorians to leave their home: food and supplies, medical care and care giving, exercise, and work or education.

Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Councillor Sam Hearn said "this Easter will be different to any other Easter our community has experienced."

"We're reminding anyone considering travelling over the long weekend that current State Government restrictions clearly advise all Victorians to stay at home and avoid non-essential travel"

"Our beaches will be monitored and if people gather or flout restrictions on beaches under our control then we will remove all public access to them, even for exercise"

"There will be more long weekends and Easter holidays in years to come – this Easter stay at home, look after each other and save lives."

Police have strong powers to enforce these directions and can issue on the spot fines, including up to $1652 for individuals and up to $9913 for businesses.
