Caulfield police are investigating a theft which occurred in Elsternwick earlier this month.

Investigators believe a man and woman entered the Glen Huntley Road store about 1.20pm on 3 May.

The pair were browsing in the store for some time before they stole a vintage airline suitcase.

A male staff member followed the pair as they left the store and headed towards a nearby train station.

He approached the pair and took the bag from the man and returned to the store.

The pair was last seen at the Elsternwick railway station about 1.30pm.

They are both described as Caucasian in appearance and aged in their 20's.

Police have released images of a pair who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Anyone with information or who may recognise the man is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
