THIS SUNDAY: Hundreds to protest dangerous shipment

This shipment is occurring in breach of Federal regulations and if it loads in Fremantle, as is expected, will also be breaching WA animal protection laws.
May marks the beginning of the extreme danger period for all sheep shipments to the Middle East where suffering and deaths from heat stroke significantly increase.
This shipment has been given the green-light in the same week that Australia's peak veterinary body has recommended a cessation of live sheep exports between May and October due to the predictable and unavoidable increased risk of heat stress.
**NOTE** The additional space allocation afforded these animals equates to an A4 piece of paper per sheep. As they head into the rising heat and humidity of a Middle Eastern summer, sheep will still not have ready access to food and water or have room to lie down and rest during the weeks-long voyage. ---
