Three arrested and firearms seized following Echo Taskforce warrants

Detectives from Echo Taskforce have arrested three men today following a number of warrants in Melbourne’s northern suburbs, Victoria Police say.

The warrants were executed with the assistance of the Special Operations Group at residential properties in Lalor and Heidelberg West from about 5am.

A 36-year-old Lalor man was arrested at a property on Robert Street and subsequently charged with possess unregistered category E longarm, possess unregistered category E handgun, possess cartridge ammunition and commit further offences while on bail.

He is appearing at Melbourne Magistrate’s Court this afternoon.

Police also seized a machine gun, a handgun and silencer, and a range of ammunition from the property.

A 32-year-old Heidelberg West man was arrested at a property on Malahang Parade, Heidelberg West and subsequently charged with possess drug of dependence, possess prohibited weapon and possess cartridge ammunition.

He has been bailed to appear at Heidelberg Magistrates Court on 21 August.

A 29-year-old Dover Heights (NSW) man was also arrested at this property and charged with traffick drug of dependence and possess drug of dependence.

He is appearing at Melbourne Magistrate’s Court this afternoon.

Police seized a number of items from the Heidelberg West property including steroids, amphetamines, a knife, a knuckle duster and ammunition.
