Three cars impounded after hoon driving in southern suburbs, South Australia

Three reckless drivers have had their cars impounded after two separate incidents in the southern suburbs.

Police will allege that about 5.10pm on Saturday 22 May on Sigma Road at Lonsdale, a grey Ford sedan and a black Holden Calais were filmed conducting sustained wheel spins in an industrial area. Other adults and children were standing on the side of the road while the cars were doing the burnouts.

On Wednesday 26 May, a 49-year-old man from Reynella was arrested and charged with driving a motor vehicle with an obscured number plate, misuse of a motor vehicle and driving in a dangerous manner. His Ford sedan was impounded for 28 days.

On Thursday 27 May a 35-year-old man from Morphettville was arrested and charged with driving disqualified, misuse of a motor vehicle and driving in a dangerous manner. His black Holden sedan which was involved in the incident was also impounded for 28 days.

Both men were bailed to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court at a later date.

In a second incident, about 4pm on Tuesday 25 May on Lander Road at Sheidow Park, a maroon Nissan Patrol four-wheel-drive was seen trying to drive up a steep embankment spraying dirt and debris onto the road. The four-wheel-drive then conducted a sustained wheel spin before driving off.

A 19-year-old man from Woodcroft was reported on Wednesday 26 May for misuse of a motor vehicle and driving in a dangerous manner. His car was impounded for 28 days and the driver will be summonsed to appear before the Christies Beach Magistrates Court at a later date.

All incidents of dangerous driving should be reported to the Police Assistance Line immediately on 131444. Take note of car descriptions, registration numbers and other details to help police bring these drivers before the courts.
