Three charged after vehicle stop in Newcastle

Three men have been charged with drug offences following a vehicle stop in Newcastle this morning, NSW Police say.

About 12.20am today, police were patrolling Brunker Road, Broadmeadow, when they saw a white Holden Commodore.

Officers from Newcastle City Local Area Command stopped the vehicle on Tudor Street, Hamilton and spoke with the three occupants.

It will be alleged police searched the vehicle where they located cannabis, ecstasy tablets, and cash; a search of the men resulted in methamphetamine and diazepam tablets being located.

The three men – aged 19, 20 and 27 – were arrested and taken to Newcastle City Police Station

The 19-year-old man was charged with supply prohibited drug – indictable quantity, supply prohibited drug – small quantity, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, and four outstanding warrants.

He was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court today.

The 20-year-old man was charged with supply prohibited drug – indictable quantity, and possess prohibited drug.

The 27-year-old man was charged with possess prescribed restricted substance, and custody of a knife in a public place.

Both men were granted strict bail conditions to appear at Newcastle Local Court on Thursday 10 November 2016.
