Three Charged Re Restaurant Affray In Melbourne

Three people have been charged as part of an investigation into an alleged affray outside of a restaurant in Melbourne on Friday 4 July.

It's alleged a group of about 20 protestors walked to a restaurant on Hardware Lane at about 8.15pm where members of the public were enjoying their evening.

It's alleged several people in the group were involved in an affray where chairs were thrown. Damage was caused to the glass door of the restaurant during the incident.

Detectives from the Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit executed three search warrants this morning in Essendon, Footscray and Richmond, where three people were arrested.

All three have been charged with assault, affray, riotous behaviour and criminal damage, which includes:

• A 50-year-old man from Richmond being directly presented to the Melbourne Magistrates' Court this afternoon.

• A 48-year-old woman from Footscray was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 25 September.

• A 28-year-old woman from Essendon was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 25 September.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident on Hardware Lane.
