Three day operation nets multiple arrests in Western Victoria

Police have arrested 11 people following a three day operation targeting criminal activity in Western Victoria, Victoria Police say.

At total of 10 search warrants were executed across Maryborough, Inglewood, Castlemaine and Carisbrook areas between 15 and 17 August.

Six addresses in Maryborough, two in Inglewood and one each in Castlemaine and Carisbrook were targeted with a number of people arrested as part of an ongoing initiative to target volume crime within the western part of the state.

Police arrested a 43-year-old man from Maryborough who appeared before the Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on 15 August charged with possess drug of dependence and used drug or dependence.

A 27-year-old Maryborough man was issued a cannabis caution for possessing cannabis.

Police also arrested a 38-year-old Maryborough man.

He appeared before Maryborough Magistrates’ Court on 16 August was charged with possessing cannabis.

A 44-year-old Maryborough man arrested by police was bailed to appear at Maryborough Magistrates’ Court on 13 September charged with prohibited person possess firearm, possess cannabis and use drug of dependence.

Also arrested was a 56-year-old Maryborough woman.

She was bailed to appear at Maryborough Magistrates’ Court on 30 August charged with trafficking cannabis and possessing proceeds of crime.

A 26-year-old Maryborough man was arrested.

He is expected to be charged on summons at a later date in relation to possessing cannabis.

A 53-year-old Inglewood woman was bailed to appear at Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on 27 August charged with possessing cannabis.

A 63-year-old Inglewood man was bailed to appear at Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on 20 September also charged with possessing cannabis.

A 33-year-old Murphy’s Creek man was arrested in relation to an outstanding warrant and was bailed to appear at Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on 30 August.

A 30-year-old Maryborough woman and 39-year-old Maryborough man were also arrested in relation to outstanding warrants and bailed to appear at Maryborough Magistrates’ Court on 30 August.
