Three injured after stolen car crashes in Charlestown

Three people have been injured after an alleged stolen car crashed into a service station at Charlestown overnight, NSW Police say.

Just before 2am (Friday 21 September 2018), an alleged stolen Subaru WRX was travelling north along the Pacific Highway.

It appears the driver lost control near the intersection of Frederick Street and crashed into a service station and an unattended parked car.

The car ignited and the three occupants managed to escape the wreckage.

Emergency services attended and the occupants of the car were taken to John Hunter Hospital.

The 24-year-old male driver from Taree and the 32-year-old female passenger from Gateshead, remain in hospital in a serious but stable condition. The 22-year-old male passenger, also from Gateshead, has since been released.

Newcastle Crash Investigation Unit attended and inquiries are continuing. Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
