Three injured during backyard fire in Northern Beaches

Three people have been injured after a backyard incident on the Northern Beaches yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 7.40pm today, three people sustained burn injuries after an explosion at a home on Aubreen Street, Collaroy Plateau.

NSW Ambulance Paramedics attended and treated a 46-year-old man for burns to his face and arms A 42-year-old woman and a six-year-old girl were also treated for superficial burns.

They were all taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for treatment, and have since been discharged.

Officers from Northern Beaches Local Area Command attended.

Police believe a small explosion occurred after a flammable liquid was being poured onto the pit.

The fire is not being treated as suspicious.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
