Three injured; teen charged - Abbotsford

A teenager has been charged after a woman was hospitalised and two others were injured following an alleged assault in Sydney's Inner West yesterday.

Just after 10am (Friday 7 August 2020), emergency services attended a unit block on Bourke Place, Abbotsford, following reports of an assault.

A 56-year-old woman was found suffering critical injuries and a 76-year-old man, known to the woman, was also injured.

They were both treated by paramedics and taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

A 42-year-old woman suffered minor injuries when she came to her neighbour's aid.

Officers from Burwood Police Area Command arrested a 19-year-old man at the scene.

He has been taken to Burwood Police Station and charged with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.

Police will allege in court that the teen attacked the older woman with a vacuum cleaner tube and a kitchen knife before he assaulted the man and the younger woman.

It will further be alleged that they are all known to each other.

The man was refused bail to appear on Saturday 8 August 2020 at Parramatta Bail Court.
