Three 'masked' teens arrested after break-in in Dapto

Police have arrested three teenagers overnight, and are searching for a fourth, after they allegedly broke into a shopping complex at Dapto, NSW Police say.

Shortly before 12.30am today (Saturday 17 March 2018) four people made their way to the underground carpark of a shopping centre on the Princes Highway.

The group, wearing face masks, forced one of the large sliding doors to the complex and entered the premises.

Security staff at the complex were able to observe the incident using CCTV and made an announcement on the public address system.

The group fled from the premises as numerous officers from Lake Illawarra Police District arrived.

Several foot pursuits ensued with three teenagers apprehended nearby.

The fourth person escaped however, dropped a bag with identification documents and a facemask.

A 16-year-old male and 17-year-old female were charged with break & enter with intent.

They were both refused bail to appear at a Children’s Court today.

A 15-year-old male was cautioned in relation to the offences and released.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District continue with their investigation into the incident.
