Three teens arrested, charged for assault in Newtown

Three teenagers have been charged with assault after they attacked four men in Newtown, NSW Police say.

About 1.20am on Saturday (7 January 2017), four men were at Tempe Railway Station when they were approached by four teenage boys and a teenage girl.

Following a brief interaction, one of the teenage boys, allegedly armed with a metal plate, assaulted three of the four men, who each sustained injuries.

Newtown detectives commenced an investigation and on Wednesday (11 January 2017) executed search warrants at a number of properties in Newtown and Tempe.

Two of the alleged offenders were arrested at Pittwater and a third teenager handed himself in to Newtown Police Station.

Police have charged a 16-year-old boy with armed with intent to commit indictable offence, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray. Two others, a 16-year-old and 17-year-old, were charged with affray. They were all granted conditional bail with curfew and non-association conditions.

Two of them will appear at a Children’s Court on 30 January 2017 and the third will appear at a Children’s Court on 6 February 2017.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
