On Friday 29 May, a doctoral degree will be conferred on 290 doctors and 16 honorary doctors bearing hats and wreaths at Lund University's grand ceremony, the doctoral degree conferment ceremony. At the same time, 48 doctors will become jubilee doctors.
In a solemn ceremony at Lund Cathedral, the doctoral students who completed their doctoral studies in the past year and successfully defended their doctoral theses at Lund University will receive their doctoral degree. At the ceremony, doctoral degrees will also be conferred on the faculties' honorary doctors. Doctors who completed their doctoral degrees 50 years ago will become jubilee doctors.
One of the participants who will receive an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Social Sciences is Professor Frank Biermann, in recognition of his pioneering contributions to the field of global environmental politics. He is currently a professor of Global Sustainability Governance at Utrecht University.
"I have had the privilege of working with researchers across many different research environments at Lund University for the past 25 years, and I sincerely hope to continue doing so for the next 25 years as well. Receiving this honorary doctorate also means that I will now be formally connected to the university, something I value deeply," says Frank Biermann.
