Timor-Leste Tunes Into PacificAus TV

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

Another partner in our region is gaining access to quality Australian television and sport, with the launch of the Australian Government's PacificAus TV initiative in Timor-Leste.

PacificAus TV provides broadcast partners in Timor-Leste and the Pacific with free access to Australian TV content.

Its launch in Timor-Leste coincides with the broadcast of the Asian Football Confederation Women's Asian Cup, highlighting some of the region's top sporting talent and offering greater visibility for women's football across Asia and the Pacific.

Public broadcaster Radio e Televisão de Timor Leste (RTTL) joins 17 free-to-air broadcasters across 11 Pacific countries already accessing Australian content through the initiative.

In another boon to sports fans across the region, PacificAus TV will now also deliver National Rugby League matches to its partner broadcasters in Samoa, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Kiribati, Nauru, Tuvalu, Tonga, Cook Islands, Niue and Timor-Leste in 2026.

Delivered by Free TV Australia, PacificAus TV receives $5.68 million per year under the Australian Government's Indo-Pacific Broadcasting Strategy to expand access to Australian television programs.

The Strategy aims to provide better access to trusted and reliable news sources, deliver quality content, foster a vibrant media sector and support deeper engagement and understanding across the region.
