Council's grant-funded Tinderry Road causeway replacement project is progressing, following work getting underway in the first half of 2025 thanks to funding support from the NSW Government. This work aligns with Council's Bridge Renewal Program.
This project will see the old Boolboolma Crossing over the Queanbeyan River replaced with a modern 35-metre single-lane precast concrete bridge, improving all-season access and road safety for local residents and motorists.
Current estimates expect completion of the replacement bridge by the end of November 2025.
Next up on the project schedule is pouring of the new concrete bridge deck surface, with final-stage earthworks to commence once the concrete has fully cured.
The old causeway has been removed and the structural components for the new replacement bridge have been installed over the last several months.
Current traffic diversions will remain in place until works are complete.
Council appreciates the community's cooperation and understanding while we work to complete these important road safety upgrades.
