Tip Shop reopens after lockdown

Community members thinking of a trip to the Tip Shop during life outside of lockdown now have some good news.

Wagga Wagga City Council's popular reuse and recycling facility at Gregadoo Waste Management Centre (GWMC) is open again from 8am on Saturday, 18 September.

Council staff are expecting this to be a busy weekend and are urging visitors to the shop to be aware that there are still restrictions in place that are in line with the current Public Health Order.

A COVID marshal will be available to assist members of the public in adhering to a few simple rules to keep everyone safe and healthy.

Here's what to expect:

  • Wear a mask
  • Sign in required
  • Keep your social distance
  • Restricted numbers if the shop reaches capacity
  • Cash and EFTPOS accepted

GWMC's Mat Windle said customers will not be able to reserve items, or place items aside.

"Those lined up to pay for their items must stick to the 'if you can carry it, you can buy it' rule. We do not reserve items, put aside items and items cannot keep your place in line," Mr Windle said.

"Once you have purchased your items you must leave via the gates and, if you wish to return for another look, you may be required to line up at the gate again.

"We urge everyone to be thoughtful of others and to respect the advice given by our COVID marshals who are there to help keep the community safe."

People with items to drop off are advised to park their car and let a staff member know. Staff will check items and then advise where to drop off.

The Tip Shop's hours are: Saturday, Sunday and Monday 8am-4pm (weather permitting).
