Too fast in Templestowe

A probationary diver has had his vehicle impounded for 30 days after being detected allegedly more than 65km/h over the speed limit in Templestowe.

The grey Mercedes wagon caught the eye of Nunawading Highway Patrol members along Williams Road about 4.35pm this afternoon.

Members detected the vehicle, which was travelling northbound, allegedly reaching speeds of up to 145km/h in an 80km/h zone.

Police quickly intercepted the vehicle and spoke to the driver, a 19-year-old male who was just 10 seconds from his home.

His car was impounded at a cost of $843 and he is expected to be charged on summons for speeding offences.
