Toowoomba Enjoys QPS Community and Careers Expo

Over 600 people attended the QPS Community and Careers Expo in Toowoomba on Saturday, April 13, under sunny skies on the TAFE Oval.

Attendees travelled from the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Warwick and even Roma, joining with locals to learn about community safety initiatives and explore careers in policing and other emergency services.

Our QPS specialist units joined staff from the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS), State Emergency Service (SES), Police Citizens Youth Clubs (PCYC) and Disaster Relief Australia.

The police recruiting information seminars were standing room only. Current recruits from QPS Academy in Brisbane joined Recruiting officers to discuss the application process and share their experiences of life at the academy.

Our Scenes of Crime (SOC) and Tactical Crime Squad (TCS) officers were busy throughout the day. SOC demonstrated how they conduct forensic examinations to solve crime, while TCS showed some cutting-edge equipment they rely on in the field.

Numerous attendees seized the opportunity to learn or refresh their CPR training with our colleagues from Queensland Ambulance. Others discussed strategies for emergency preparedness with the SES and Disaster Relief Australia.

The ever-popular QPS Pipes and Drums entertained the crowds throughout the day with a mix of traditional and modern melodies.

Officers from the QPS Stock Squad, District Crime Prevention Unit and Mobile Police Beat connected with families and business owners to provide valuable advice on enhancing safety to help build safer and more resilient communities.

The QPS Recruiting team thanks our specialist units, Toowoomba police, and Recruits from the QPS Academy at Oxley for supporting this event. We are grateful to the community for their attendance and the opportunity to connect.
