If you were to win the lottery, what would you spend your winnings on?
In our latest Annual Winners Report*, we surveyed 2025's division one winners to find out how they enjoyed their lottery prizes, with the top five common decisions revealed as:
- Investing money into the future (72%)
- Helping friends and family (36%)
- Paying off their mortgage (30%)
- Buying a new car (28%)
- Enjoying a holiday (18%)
Interestingly, the data suggests that lottery winners continue to take a sensible approach with their prize. Investments remain a top priority, which is a 17% increase compared with the previous year!
Unpacking how division one winners enjoy their prize money
Whether it be an indulgent purchase, booking a memorable holiday or clearing some debts, some of our favourite responses from division one lottery winners included:
"We bought ourselves a robot lawn mower for Christmas."
"I stayed in a private villa in Bali and booked a five-star trip in China with a river cruise."
"My husband and I are set up for the future. We paid off our mortgages, topped up our superannuation and reduced our working hours."
"I gifted my family money, and they were able to pay off their credit cards."
After winning the lottery: your next steps
If you have a registered division one winning lottery entry, you can look forward to us giving you a call! If your ticket is unregistered, hold on to it and give us a call immediately on 131 868 to discuss your next steps.
Generally, payment for any division one or top lottery prize will be made after a two-week provisional period. This is to allow us to verify winning tickets before transferring prize funds into your account. You can find out different ways we pay your prizes here.
