Towards 2042 consultation extended: Bega Valley

Consultation on the Bega Valley Shire’s next community strategic plan has been extended to 13 August, giving the community more time to have their say about the future of our shire.

Bega Valley Shire Mayor, Cr Russell Fitzpatrick said while over 700 responses to the Towards 2042 consultation have been received to date, Council would like to ensure everyone has the chance to have their say.

“It’s great to see that over 700 surveys have been completed so far, but with about 35,000 people living in the shire, we’d like to hear from as many people as possible,” Cr Fitzpatrick said.

“This is your chance to let us know what you value about where you live, and what you think we need to do to make it even better for you, your friends, family and the wider community over the next 20 years.

“While Council is leading the development of the plan, it’s your plan—the community’s plan—so we’d really like to hear from as many people as possible.

“Every Council project and Community Project Proposal that we endorse is guided by the plan, so it’s really important we have a shared vision for the future and understand what the community values.

“You can fill in a brief online survey, either individually or as part of a community group, or speak to one of our staff at your local library, in a COVID-safe way of course. We’ve also got creative drawing kits for our younger residents going to schools to get their input.”

To complete the survey or find out more, visit Council’s Towards 2042 webpage.

Hard copy surveys are also available from Council’s customer service centre at Zingel Place in Bega and from our libraries across the shire.

The Towards 2042 consultation is open until 13 August.
