Edward River Council is inviting community members to be part of a new Friends of the Town Hall volunteer program, helping bring even more life and connection to the beautifully restored Deniliquin Town Hall.
Since opening its doors in 1876, the Town Hall has stood as a gathering place through celebrations, performances and moments that have shaped the Edward River community.
After its stunning renovation and reopening in February 2023, the Hall is once again establishing itself as the town's cultural hub; hosting performances, workshops, weddings, corporate events and more.
Volunteering as a Friend of the Town Hall is a chance to be part of this legacy. Volunteers will help welcome visitors, support events, and share the Hall's rich history through guided tours.
It's a flexible and occasional commitment, perfect for anyone who wants to contribute without taking on regular shifts.
"We know there are many passionate, community‑minded locals who want to be involved, and this is a fantastic way to help build a vibrant cultural venue for our region," said Mayor of Edward River, Ashley Hall.
"If you love history, culture, the arts, or simply enjoy meeting new people, we'd love to hear from you."
Council is seeking volunteers who are enthusiastic, reliable and customer‑focused, and who are proud to represent Council's organisational values. Training and support will be provided.
Examples of the types of events the Friends of the Town Hall may work to support include: the Summer Movie Series, Australia Day celebrations, Seniors Week events, History Week tours and more.
