Townsville Local Disaster Management Group to continue monitoring Tropical Cyclone Owen

The Townsville Local Disaster Management Group (TLDMG) will remain on Lean Forward until further notice.

The TLDMG met today, but will continue to analyse weather predictions and patterns over the weekend as Tropical Cyclone Owen is predicted to cross the Gulf coast.

TLDMG Deputy Chair Cr Kurt Rehbein said there is a chance of decent rain from Tropical Cyclone Owen.

"Living in the tropics it's not uncommon to get decent rainfall when a cyclone or low-pressure system comes our way," Cr Rehbein said.

"The TLDMG is watching Tropical Cyclone Owen extremely closely, in case there is more rain than expected, and we will update the community with any relevant information when necessary.

"Anyone wanting to stay up to date should visit Council's Emergency Management Dashboard."
