Townsville: Wounding, Vehicle Theft Charges Filed

A blue utility that was the subject of a public appeal by police following a wounding incident in Townsville on 1 March has been located.

Around 9pm a 55-year-old Pimlico man was at an ATM at the intersection of Denham Street and Flinders Street when he was stabbed in the neck before having his bank card stolen.

The 55-year-old victim was initially transported to the Townsville University Hospital where he has since been released after receiving medical treatment.

As part of the investigation detectives released CCTV of a blue vehicle they believed to be involved.

This vehicle was recovered from an address at Railway Estate on 2 March.

A 30-year-old man has since been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He has been remanded in custody to reappear in Townsville Magistrates Court on 31 March.

Investigations remain ongoing into the wounding of the man.
