Toyota Australia recalls Kluger vehicles Due to seatback frames

Toyota Australia has today announced that it will initiate a safety recall involving Toyota Kluger vehicles produced between 4 March 2021 - 16 June 2021 (inclusive). There are approximately 5,400 vehicles involved in the Australian market.

Involved vehicles are fitted with front seats which are constructed with a certain seat-back frame. Due to the wearing of the manufacturing tool used to form the shape of the seat-frames and insufficient inspection instructions, certain specific points on the seat-back frames were not manufactured with the minimum radius criteria. As a result, these seat-back frames do not comply with ECE UNR17.

For all involved vehicles, Toyota Dealers will modify the driver and front passenger seat-back frames free of charge to vehicle owners.

It will require approximately 2 hours to modify the seat-back frames. However, depending on the Dealer's work schedule, owners may be required to make the vehicle available for a longer period of time.
