**TGRA 86 Series Bathurst Cup to run as Supercars support on 15-18 October**
**Up to 25 drivers expected to compete across four races**
**ARC rally champion Harry Bates and 2019 season winner Aaron Borg expected on the grid**
After a year of motorsport competition that has seen almost all events cancelled due to COVID-19, Toyota is offering race fans and competitors one big opportunity this year to cheer on the action of the TGRA 86 Series when drivers line up on the grid for the TGRA 86 Series Bathurst Cup on 15-18 October.
Running as a support category for the final round of the 2020 Supercars Championship at the iconic Mount Panorama circuit, the Bathurst Cup will comprise four, 25-minute races across the weekend.
Toyota Australia Chief Marketing Officer John Pappas said the company was keen to support this final opportunity for 2020 for the aspiring professional drivers and weekend warriors that made the TGRA 86 Series' wheel-to-wheel racing action popular among competitors and fans alike.
"With the 2020 TGRA 86 Series having been cancelled due to COVID-19, we saw the opportunity to show our support for up-and-coming drivers and the grassroots motorsports community by running a one-off Bathurst Cup," Mr Pappas said.
"Under the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing brand, we are firmly committed to supporting motorsport at all levels, from our recently crowned third-time winners of the Le Mans 24-hour in the TS050, to the 86 racers and TGRA rally team here in Australia.
"There is no better place to wrap up what has been a difficult year for drivers and motorsport fans than the spiritual home of Australian motorsport at Bathurst.
"And next year, the TGRA 86 Series will be back on track as we hope and look forward to a full season of racing action and the further development of tomorrow's champions," he said.
With an expected field of between 20 and 25 cars, drivers will compete for the Bathurst Cup trophy and the glory of taking the chequered flag at one of Australia's most challenging race circuits.
Australian Rally Champion (ARC) Harry Bates will be joining the competitors on the grid as an invited driver in the TGRA 86 before he competes in the only ARC outing for the year to be held in Canberra on 27-29 November.
Last year's Bathurst and TGRA 86 Series season winner Aaron Borg is also expected back to defend his title, along with the 2019 season third-placed Tim Brook and Kaizen Award winner, Lachlan Gibbons, as likely starters.
