Traffic changes on Murray Esplanade

Port of Echuca

Permanent traffic restrictions on Murray Esplanade, between Leslie Street and Hopwood Place, are now in place to stop public vehicles on this section of the road and ensure public safety in the Port of Echuca.

Only vehicles authorised by Council, such as maintenance, delivery and emergency vehicles, and approved horse carriages will be allowed to enter the shared zone.

The government's outdoor dining COVID-19 strategy was another consideration for Council on how to keep diners, pedestrians and cycles safe in the area.

Campaspe Mayor Cr Chrissy Weller said the new traffic conditions will improve the area's amenity and enhance the visitor experience.

"The Port of Echuca is one of Victoria's most fascinating and picturesque places to visit in Australia, and dining outdoors is one of the best ways to experience it," Cr Weller said.

"I invite visitors and residents alike to come and support the Port traders and enjoy a wonderful outdoor dining experience in a beautiful and safe environment."

Council has installed signage alerting the public to the new traffic conditions, which will be supported by the introduction of additional signage and barriers.
