Traffic delays expected at Barrington due to Australian Masters Rowing Championships, TAS

Changes in traffic conditions are expected in the Lake Barrington area due to the Australian Masters Rowing Championships being held from 9 to 13 May, Tasmania Police say.

During this time, and in the days leading up to the event, there will be significantly more traffic on the roads coming from all areas of the state. Organisers are expecting around 700 competitors plus spectators.

Competitors will be transporting rowing equipment on long and heavy trailers and will often be travelling slower than the posted speed limits, particularly on windy roads.

The areas and roads likely to be most affected are:

  • Sheffield township and surrounding roads
  • Railton township and surrounding roads
  • Railton Road and
  • Sheffield Road.

Motorists are asked to be patient while travelling through these areas and allow extra time for travel.
