Tram track and wire replacement

Public Transport Victoria (PTV) will shortly be renewing tram tracks and the overhead network on Glenferrie Road between Malvern Road and High Street.

Preliminary works will occur between Sunday 13 September and Saturday 19 September and will involve activities such as site establishment, pole installation, welding rails and similar. To complete the works a 210 metre (approx.) zone will be set up the parking lane on the east side of Glenferrie Road between Moorakyne and Somers avenues.

A site office will operate out of the Glenferrie Road car park (next to the Police Station) from Monday 14 September until the works are complete. The car park will be unavailable during this time.

The major works (tram track and overhead wire replacement) will be completed between 2am Saturday 19 September and 5am Friday 25 September. For this period a full road closure of Glenferrie Road between Malvern Road and High Street will be in place.

Major works will continue 24 hours a day, and the area may open sooner if works are complete and it is safe to do so. Significant noise will be unavoidable during excavation and concrete breaking activities, therefore these activities will be restricted to hours 6am to 10pm where possible.

Traffic management including advisory signage will be in place for the duration of the works.
