Food systems across the Arab region face growing pressures from climate change, market volatility, conflict and resource scarcity. Addressing these challenges requires not only stronger production and supply chains, but also more effective governance that can guide sustainable and inclusive transformation.
A new report issued by ESCWA explores how governance can support this transition. Titled "Navigating Food System Governance in the Arab Region: Policies, Institutions and Power", the report highlights governance as a key pillar for transforming food systems in the region.
It also examines policy frameworks, institutional arrangements and power dynamics shaping food systems, and stresses the importance of coordinated policies, accountable institutions, reliable data systems and inclusive participation to build more resilient, sustainable and equitable food systems.
