Notification from Transport for NSW
The Australian and NSW governments are investing $5 million to realign Willbriggie bend as part of the Road Safety Program.
What work are we doing?
Major work is starting on the realignment and widening of Willbriggie bend on Kidman Way, south of Griffith.
Work involves realigning and widening the road and shoulders and installing safety barriers along a 750-metre section of road.
Right-turn treatments will be built to improve safety at the Coppard Road, Silo Road and Cush Crescent intersections.
This work will improve road safety and traffic efficiency and provide for future transport needs.
When and where we'll be working
We'll continue working about 20 kilometres south of Griffith on Kidman Way, and intersections with Coppard Road, Silo Road and Cush Crescent.
Major work will start on Monday 25 May and is expected to be completed by late October, weather permitting.
Work will be carried out between 6am and 6pm on weekdays and Saturdays, and on Sundays as required.
What will this mean for you?
Changed traffic conditions will be in place for the safety of road users and the community.
You may notice:
- workers and vehicles on site
- traffic controllers and signage
- single lane closures.
Motorists are advised to allow an extra 10 minutes' travel time. Oversize and overmass (OSOM) vehicles wider than 4.5 metres will need to contact traffic control for assistance through the site.
To safely enable the work, Silo Road will be closed to all traffic between Kidman Way and Cotterill Road until the project is completed. A detour will be in place via Adams and Cotterill roads.

Night closure on Kidman Way
To minimise impacts to motorists, Kidman Way will be closed for one night shift while work is carried out to install a temporary drainage line.
Work hours are 6pm to 6am on Sunday 31 May.
A detour around the work site will be in place via North Kooba Settlers Road, Wilga Road, Irrigation Way and Whitton-Darlington Point Road, adding up to 30 minutes' additional travel time.
Transport thanks the community for its patience while work is carried out.
