- Queensland Rail is advising its customers along the Ipswich/Rosewood and Springfield train lines to allow extra travel time this weekend, due to a track closure.
- Suncorp Stadium is hosting the 2025 Pacific Championships on Sunday 26 October, during the track closure.
- The track closure, planned more than 18 months in advance, is for essential maintenance.
With Suncorp Stadium hosting the 2025 Pacific Championships on Sunday 26 October, customers heading to the event should be aware of a track closure on the Ipswich/Rosewood and Springfield rail lines.
There will be plenty of rail replacement buses ready at Roma Street station to transport customers to and from train stations along the two rail lines, however event goers are advised travel may take longer than usual.
All other rail lines on the South East Queensland network are operating as normal from Roma Street station, which is just a short walk from the stadium.
These rail replacement bus services will also support customers with their public transport needs for the AFLW fixture and Diwali Festival at Springfield's Brighton Homes Arena on Saturday 25 October.
Queensland Rail's Acting Head of South East Queensland Rob Hill said the work being done was essential maintenance that was necessary for safety and to prevent further long-term disruptions.
"Major work being undertaken this weekend includes ballast works, track defect inspections, overhead line equipment maintenance, signals maintenance, Indooroopilly bridge life extension works (including painting), new digital signalling project works and drainage works at Graceville station", Mr Hill said.
"While we understand this closure is an inconvenience to our customers travelling to the game from these lines, planning for these maintenance works began 18 months in advance and prior to the scheduling of the 2025 Pacific Championships.
"The good news is, you can absolutely still get to these events but the journey will be via a rail replacement bus rather than a train if you're on the Ipswich/Rosewood or Springfield lines.
"All other lines are open this weekend, with additional services pre and post event from Roma Street station.
"Queensland Rail is unable to cancel the track closure due to the significant cost involved with doing so.
"The closure has also been carefully aligned with the cancellation of freight movements with any rescheduling meaning a disruption to regional operations."
