Travel for free on NYE

If you're heading to Mooloolaba this New Year's Eve, avoid traffic congestion and travel for free thanks to Sunshine Coast Council and Translink.

Free bus travel will be provided to and from Mooloolaba from 3pm via routes 600, 610 and 620, with all buses across the Coast free from 8pm until 2am New Year's Day.

In addition to the regular Monday schedule, extra services will run after 6.30pm on these routes and an additional 610 service will depart to Nambour from Maroochydore at 10pm and 1am.

Take advantage of free park and ride to and from Kawana Bus Station, USC Bus Station at Sippy Downs and Maroochydore Bus Station on Horton Parade from 3pm.

Mayor Mark Jamieson said providing free public transport on New Year's Eve offered party goers a safe and convenient option to get to and from the festivities.

"With New Year's Eve celebrations taking place across the Sunshine Coast, I encourage everyone to travel safely and take up the option of leaving the car at home and jumping on a free bus," Mayor Jamieson said.

"Providing the free buses will help to increase safety, convenience and manage traffic and parking in the area."

NYE Mooloolaba is a drug and alcohol-free event. Please note that intoxicated people or the carrying of alcohol will not be permitted on board any bus. Security will be present on bus services.
