We'll be welcoming athletes and their families to the Fingal Bay area this weekend, which means more road congestion, and some road closures. Learn more about which streets are affected.

We're proud to again be hosting the Port Stephens Trex Triathlon & Trail Run this weekend, 2 and 3 of September.

NSW State Championship contenders will tackle a challenging 1000m swim in Fingal Bay, followed by a 29km mountain biking segment through Tomaree National Park, and then finish off with an 8km trail run. The challenge is as much with mother nature as it is against other athletes!

Saturday 2nd September from 7am to 2pm:

Marine Drive

  • The requirement for participants to cross Marine Drive is minimal and takes place intermittently between 9am and 11am.
  • Traffic Controllers will be in place to manage traffic during these times.
  • Marine Drive is single lane in both directions. The crossing point is located more than 200m from the nearest road juncton. Speed limits in this area are 50kph.

Rocky Point Road

  • Participants are required to cross Rocky Point Road three Times during the event between 9am and 1:30pm therefore a road closure for a small section of the road has been put in place.
  • The road will be closed between the junction of Lentara Street and Farm Road, this will only affect access for one resident which can be managed by the event so as not to cause them disruption.
  • The positioning of the road closure offers easy detours via Farm Road, Boulder Bay Road and Marine Drive or Lentara Street and Marine Drive.
  • Rocky Point Road is a single lane in either direction, speed limit is 50kph.

Traffic Management Impacts

  • The closure on Rocky Point Road will affect through access for emergency services and the local bus service between 8:30am and 2pm on Saturday 26th March.
  • Access for one resident on the corner of Rocky Point road and Lentara Street will be affected but can be managed by the event team so as not to cause undue disruption to the resident.
Sunday 3rd September from 7am to 1pm:

Marine Drive

  • The requirement for participants to cross Marine Drive is minimal and takes place intermittently between 9:15am and 10:15am.
  • Traffic Controllers will be in place to manage traffic during these Times.
  • Marine Drive is a single lane in either direction; speed limits in this area are 50kph.
