Trio Charged by Detectives for Lakemba Shooting

Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives have charged a man, woman, and a teenage boy over an alleged public place shooting in Sydney's southwest earlier this week.

About 11pm on Monday 2 March 2026, police were called to Pettit Avenue in Lakemba, following reports of shots fired.

Officers attached to Campsie Police Area Command attended and were told four unknown people - one armed with a pistol - attempted to enter the home.

The group retreated a short time later, allegedly firing a pistol towards the home before leaving in a BMW SUV, later found burnt out on Beaufort Street, Guildford.

A 37-year-old man was home at the time but was uninjured.

A crime scene was established by local police before State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad took over the investigation under Strike Force Kegar.

Following extensive inquiries, about 6pm yesterday (Wednesday 4 March 2026), strike force officers - with assistance of the Tactical Operations Unit - attended a unit in Yampi Place, Cartwright.

The occupants - a man and woman, both aged 22, and a 16-year-old boy - were arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station.

The 16-year-old was charged with shoot at with intent to murder, special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence - weapon and fire firearm at dwelling - organised criminal activity. He was refused bail to appear at a children's court today (Thursday 5 March 2026).

The man was charged with special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence - weapon and fire firearm at dwelling - organised criminal activity. The woman was charged with accessory after the fact to specially aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence and fire firearm at dwelling - organised criminal activity. They were both refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today.

Inquiries under Strike Force Kegar are ongoing.
