Truck Driver Charged After Chester Hill Pursuit, Crash

About 6.20pm (Tuesday 22 April 2025), officers attached to South West Metropolitan Region were patrolling Chester Hill, when they attempted to stop a tipper truck allegedly bearing stolen registration plates on Campbell Hill Road.

When the truck failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated, however, soon terminated due to safety concerns.

A short time later, at the intersection of Wolumba Street, the truck allegedly entered the roundabout on the incorrect side and collided head on with a Ute and an SUV before rolling onto its side.

The driver, a 32-year-old man, attempted to run from the scene, however, he was arrested a short distance away.

He was taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and mandatory testing.

The driver of the SUV was taken to hospital for treatment for minor injuries, while the other driver was uninjured.

Upon release form hospital, the man was taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, use class A vehicle with unauthorised number plate affixed, hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (not motor vehicle), and negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm).

He was refused bail to appear before Liverpool Local Court today (Wednesday 23 April 2025).
