A truck driver has been charged following a fatal crash on the state's South Coast.
About 11.15am yesterday (Thursday 7 August 2025), emergency services were called to Princes Highway, Frogs Hollow – about 13km south of Bega – following reports of a crash.
Officers attached to South Coast Police District attended and found three vehicles - a Toyota utility, a Mazda SUV, and a Kenworth prime mover - had collided.
The driver of the Toyota – a 54-year-old man - was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, he died at the scene.
The driver of the Mazda – a 78-year-old man – and his passenger – a 77-year-old woman – were also treated at the scene before being taken to Bega Hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the truck, a 21-year-old man, was not injured. He was arrested and taken to Bega Hospital for mandatory testing.
Police established a crime scene and officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation into the crash.
The 21-year-old truck driver was later taken to Bega Police Station, where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death-drive manner dangerous and negligent driving (occasioning death).
He was granted conditional bail to appear before Bega Local Court on Tuesday 23 September 2025.
