Truck driver charged over road rage incident, NSW

Police are appealing for witnesses after a road rage incident in Pymble today in which a man was charged, NSW Police say.

About 11.45am (Monday 7 May 2018), a 55-year-old man was driving a truck north on Forest Way, St Ives when he allegedly tailgated a station wagon being driven by a 59-year-old man.

When the vehicles stopped at traffic lights, the truck driver allegedly threatened the station wagon driver with a metal bar.

When the lights turned green the vehicles continued on Mona Vale Road, with the truck allegedly driving alongside the car before driving into its lane.

The truck driver then allegedly got out of his truck and smashed the front window of the car.

The car then drove up onto the kerb and drove from the scene in order to escape.

Police were notified about the incident and intercepted the truck on the Pacific Highway, Pymble.

The 55-year-old was arrested and taken to Hornsby Hospital for blood and urine testing.

He was subsequently issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for malicious damage, menacing driving and use offensive weapon, to appear at Hornsby Local Court at a later date.

Police are calling for witnesses who have yet to speak to police to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
