Truck Driver Faces Charges in Five Dock Multi-Vehicle Crash

A man has been charged following a crash involving a truck and eight other vehicles at Five Dock.

About 4.30pm (Friday 12 January 2024), emergency services were called to Parramatta Road, following reports of a multi-vehicle crash.

Officers attached to Burwood Police Area Command arrived to find an eastbound truck and seven vehicles involved in a collision at the intersection of Great North Road.

Six people were taken to hospital, while a further four escaped injury.

A crime scene was established and examined by specialist officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit. The truck was seized for mechanical examination.

A 53-year-old man driving the truck returned a negative roadside breath result.

Following inquiries, the truck driver was yesterday (Wednesday 24 January 2024), issued with a court attendance notice for nine offences

  • Cause bodily harm by misconduct, in charge of motor vehicle (five counts)
  • Dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous
  • Negligent driving (occasion grievous bodily harm)
  • Negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm)
  • Not stop at stop line at red light – motor vehicle

The man is due to appear before Burwood Local Court on Thursday 14 March 2024.
