Trucks-Only Lane at NSW-QLD Border Welcome And Well Overdue

National Road Transport Association

The decision by Queensland Police to mandate a "trucks only" lane at the New South Wales border tonight has a thumbs up from the National Road Transport Association which has been lobbying hard.

NatRoad CEO Warren Clark said the news was "a long time coming but very welcome".

"Our members have been grappling with queues of up to two hours to cross the NSW-Queensland border in recent days," Mr Clark said.

"We have made repeated representations on their behalf on the grounds of safety and efficiency.

"A trucks-only lane is going to make life a whole lot easier for heavy vehicle operators and motorists alike."
