In response to persistent global volatility and trade uncertainty, Canada is engaging strategically with international partners to advance trade, promote economic certainty in a world that is anything but, and make progress on shared interests all while promoting domestic sectors and resources, and actioning the government's strong economic plan at home.
To that end, Ryan Turnbull, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance and National Revenue, will participate in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation's (APEC) Finance Ministers' Meeting in Hong Kong, China, on October 20-21, 2026.
Discussions will center around the global economic and financial outlook, fiscal policy to better support households and broader affordability efforts, digital infrastructure financing, access to financial services, and employment opportunities.
While in Hong Kong, Parliamentary Secretary Turnbull will meet with government and business leaders alike to advance Canada's trade diversification efforts, attract investment and advance strategic economic partnerships.
This trip builds on Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne's recent engagements in Asia, including stand-alone tours in China and India.
