TVN On-Country Appointed To Develop Remaining Land Parcel At Junction Place

Development Victoria has announced that award-winning First Nations owned TVN On-Country has been appointed to develop the remaining land parcel at Junction Place.

This proposed project, subject to planning approval, outlines plans for a commercial and cultural hub for the Border community that will feature a cultural learning centre and gallery, yarning circle and commercial office space.

A permanent home for First Nations operated non-profit On-Country Pathways, it is expected to support the creation of jobs both during the build and following project delivery.

Wodonga Council's Mayor Michael Gobel welcomed the news of progress at the site, while acknowledging that the council will act as the designated planning authority.

"The Memorandum of Understand (MOU) that the council entered into with Development Victoria in 2022 defines the responsibility of both parties, with the council acting as the planning authority," he said.

"The organisation will now carry out this role and ensure that any application put forward by the developer meets the provisions of the planning scheme and delivers an outcome that meets the needs and expectations of our community.

"While it must be acknowledged it's been a long road so far, I am pleased to see some advancement in plans for the site."

This announcement comes nearly one year after it was confirmed that Victorian developer Birchmore Group would lead the development of sites 1, 3, 4 and 5 at Junction Place.
