Two arrested after driving with stolen plates, SA

Two men have been arrested after an eagle eyed patrol noticed the car they were driving had two different number plates early this morning, according to SA Police.

Just after 3am, Tuesday 1 August, a patrol stopped a blue Holden on Magill Road, Magill after checks revealed the rear number plate didn't match the car.

Once the car was stopped the patrol saw the front number plate was different to the rear. While the officers were talking to the driver they noticed the number plates matching the vehicle in the foot well.

Inquiries were made with the owners of the incorrect plates they had both been stolen earlier in the night from Modbury Heights.

The driver of the car, a 32 year-old man from Modbury Heights gave a false name to police. Once they ascertained who he really was they discovered he was driving with an expired licence. He was arrested and charged with false name, unlawful possession, driving with unassigned plated and driving with an expired licence.

The passenger a 34-year-old man from Valley View was also arrested and charged with unlawful possession.

Both men have been bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 25 September.
