Two arrested after taxi driver assaulted in Caringbah

Two people are in police custody after a taxi driver was allegedly assaulted at Caringbah overnight, NSW Police say.

The incident happened about 11.45pm today, outside a convenience store on The Kingsway at Caringbah when the driver was allegedly by two passengers.

Police from Miranda Local Area Command have been told the driver was allegedly knocked to the ground and continued to be assaulted.

Two youths, aged 18 and 19, who were in the store came to the man’s aid and were assaulted. Police allege one teen was kicked in the head, the other scratched and punched.

All were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before the driver was taken to St George Hospital with head injuries.

Following police inquiries, a man and woman were arrested in another taxi a short time later.

They have been taken to Sutherland Police Station where they are assisting police with their inquiries.
