Two arrested following brief pursuit North Eastern suburbs, South Australia

Two people have been arrested after the stolen car they were driving crashed into a garage in Hampstead Gardens this morning.

Just before 2.30am Wednesday 28 November Eastern District patrols were travelling east on Muller Road when they spotted a silver Holden sedan travelling west. Police recognised the car as the same one that had been stolen from a break in at Salisbury Plain on Friday 23 November.

As patrols conducted a U-turn the car took off at speed away from them and a brief police pursuit commenced. The stolen car turned south onto Elm Street before travelling west along Orlando Avenue/Elgin Place. As the car came to Ways Road it failed to turn and crashed into a detached garage. There were no injuries to the occupants of the home.

Police swooped on the male driver and female passenger who were arrested without further incident. The 20-year-old Hillcrest man has been charged with illegal use of motor vehicle, dangerous driving, driving disqualified, unlawful possession and dishonestly deal with property. He has been refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today.

The 25-year-old Marden woman has been charged with illegal use of motor vehicle. She was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.

Police will alleged they located stolen number plates inside of the crashed car which has been towed from the scene. The investigation into the break in at Salisbury Plain where the car was stolen remains on going.
