Two arrested following firefighter assault

Police have arrested two men after they allegedly assaulted two firefighters in Bacchus Marsh last night (3 February).

Emergency services were called to a Shea Street address about 9.30pm after reports of a fire burning on a total fire ban day.

Upon arrival, the occupants became involved in an altercation with two male firefighters before allegedly assaulting them, with one also making threats.

Both firefighters sustained minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.

Police arrested a 22-year-old man and 47-year-old man a short time later in relation to the assault.

Both are currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.

The investigation is ongoing.
