Detectives from State Crime Command’s Drug and Serious Crime Group in partnership with the Brisbane Police Region and South Eastern Police Region have closed a significant operation focused on the robbery and attempted robbery of nine ATM machines across South East Queensland, Queensland Police say.
These offences involved offenders gaining access to automatic teller machines located at shopping centres. It is alleged the offenders attempted to break into and rob nine automatic teller machines between January 15, 2017 and Tuesday January 23, 2018.
Two people have been charged following the robbery of an ATM on Albany Creek Road at Aspley overnight. Detectives arrested the men as they were attempting to leave the premises. One man sustained a bite from a police dog after he fled the scene.
Operation Papa Dodgeball has involved investigators from the Drug and Serious Crime Group’s Major and Organised Crime Squad (Brisbane) with the assistance of investigators across Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
A 34-year-old man from Helensvale will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning charged with various offences including four counts of enter a premises and commit and indictable offence.
A second man, aged 38 from Albany Creek will be charged later today and appear before court at a later date charged with nine counts of enter a premises and commit an indictable offence and obstructing police.
